🌿 Can Texans Still Stop the Full THC Ban? Here's What You Can Do

Texas is on the verge of enacting Senate Bill 3 (SB 3), a sweeping law that would ban nearly all hemp-derived THC products—including delta-8 and delta-10. The bill has passed both chambers of the Legislature and is now headed to Governor Greg Abbott’s desk. If signed, it will take effect on September 1, 2025, criminalizing possession and sales of many products that have been legally sold since 2019. Politico

But it’s not too late.

🚨 Why This Ban Is Harmful to Texans

1. It Fuels the Black Market

Prohibition doesn’t eliminate demand—it pushes it underground. Banning legal THC products will likely lead to an increase in unregulated, potentially dangerous black-market alternatives. This shift undermines public safety and consumer protection. San Antonio Express-News

2. It Hurts Small Businesses and Jobs

Texas’s hemp industry supports over 8,000 licensed businesses and tens of thousands of jobs. SB 3 threatens to dismantle this economic ecosystem, leading to significant job losses and economic downturns in communities across the state. Politico

3. It Ignores Medical and Wellness Needs

Many Texans, including veterans and individuals with chronic conditions, rely on hemp-derived THC products for relief. The ban disregards these needs, limiting access to alternative therapies that have been beneficial for countless individuals. ChronMySA

🛠️ What You Can Do Now

1. Contact Governor Greg Abbott

The Governor has the authority to veto SB 3. Express your concerns and urge him to consider the negative implications of the bill.

2. Engage with Your State Representatives

Reach out to your local legislators to express your opposition to SB 3 and advocate for regulated, not prohibited, THC products.

3. Support Advocacy Groups

Organizations like the Texas Hemp Business Council are actively working to oppose SB 3. Supporting these groups amplifies collective efforts to protect the hemp industry and consumer rights.

4. Raise Public Awareness

Use social media platforms to inform others about the implications of SB 3. Sharing accurate information can mobilize public opinion and influence decision-makers.
